Dear IFMSA Family,
I hope you’re having a wonderful start to the decade.
I am glad to announce that the Qatar Medical Students’ Association in collaboration with the World Psychiatry Association, Sidra Medicine, Psych Student Interest Group and Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar will be presenting to you Qatar’s Inaugural Medical Students Conference on Psychiatry and Mental Health. This is the first of its kind in the region. It will take place on February 15th, 2020 in Sidra Medicine. The conference will be preceded by a day of events for socializing and network with the students and guests that are flying in from abroad.
The conference aims to be a hub for Medical Students, Healthcare Students, Medical School Educators, Researchers in Psychiatry, and, of course, Psychiatrists.
The conference will be tacking the objectives below via a variety of workshops, seminars, activities, and talks delivered by world renown psychiatrists, psychologists, students, and mental health advocates that will be flying in from abroad.
- Deliver interactive sessions that equip attendees with strategies to maintain their mental health and promote their well-being.
- Introduce psychiatry as a multi-disciplinary profession and provide a knowledge base for attendees who might consider it as a possible career path.
- Create an innovative hub for medical students in the region to discuss and learn.

RESEARCH POSTER PRESENTATION
During the conference, medical students will have the opportunity to present their research in psychiatry, mental health, wellbeing, and quality of life. The research presented does not need to be from data collected from medical students. There will be awards for the best research poster presentations.
