Dear SCORA members,
Menstruation is an integral and normal part of human life, indeed of human existence, and menstrual hygiene is fundamental to dignity and wellbeing and an important part of the basic hygiene, sanitation and reproductive health services to which every woman and girl has a right. (House et al., 2012).
Nonetheless, the situation in the world regarding menstrual hygiene still varies, with each country facing different levels of issues and taboos.
The 28th of May is the International Menstrual Hygiene Day and we are planning to showcase different perspectives on Menstrual Hygiene in all IFMSA regions through an interactive discussion as a SCORA Online Open Space: perspectives on Menstrual Hygiene.
This Online Open Space will be live streamed in Zoom platform in IFMSA Channel and apart from the panel of speakers, we will be taking questions from the rest of participants and hearing from them about different aspects of the topic. The speakers will meet beforehand and get ready together in order to prepare the best engaging environment for all. The content that will be covered will go through challenges, barriers and opportunities regarding Menstrual Hygiene from different cultural backgrounds and diverse country perspectives.
