Dear IFMSA Family,
We hope that you’re well, safe, and OGA preparations are proceeding accordingly.
The Qatar Medical Students’ Association is excited to invite you to our upcoming virtual conference: “Global Applications of Telemedicine in the Age of Covid-19 and Beyond” that is expected to be held on Saturday, July 25th, 2020 at 2 pm GMT.
The conference is a collaborative project organized by the Qatar Medical Students’ Association (QMSA) and supported by Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar and EMBER Medical.
Background:
What is Telemedicine?
A collection of tools and platforms to connect clinicians with one another as well as with patients.
Telemedicine has gained momentum and attention during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has caused people to practice physical distance and made it hard for patients to seek health care which led many to resort to Telemedicine. This tool has been recognized as essential under the current circumstances and has laws tailored to allow it to function without the financial limitations that existed previously. Telemedicine is a method of delivering health care that is meant to stay even after the resolution of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past two decades, the World Health Organization has placed increasing emphasis on the importance of telemedicine in an aim to work towards improving health equity and public health as well as contributing to the Universal Health Coverage.
Goal:
To provide a global outlook on Telemedicine, its current practice and how it will become an integral aspect of the future of clinical practice for doctors, nurses, physical therapists, etc.
Target Audience:
Anyone with little experience or knowledge about Telemedicine. We hope to reach health care practitioners and students in the Eastern Mediterranean Region and Internationally.
