Webinar: Comorbidity and its impact on COVID-19 patients

Dear IFMSA family,

We really appreciate your amazing support and excellent engagement in our COVID-19 webinar series. This week, we are excited to bring you an amazing session titled: Comorbidity and its impact on COVID-19 Patients.

️Comorbidity refers to the presence of one or more additional conditions co-occurring with a primary condition.

️Research has shown that susceptibility to COVID-19 is related to having an ongoing illness.

️ Infact, figures show that more than a quarter of NHS patients who died in hospitals in England after contracting coronavirus had diabetes.

So, what is the impact of comorbidity on COVID-19 patients? And most importantly, how can this information help us to be more equipped in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic?

Join us this Saturday 23rd May 2020 at 2pm EAT/11am GMT to find out more about this important topic.

Our speaker will be none other than Dr. Marybeth Maritim:

  • She is an infectious disease physician and a member of the Infectious Disease Society of Kenya.
  • She is also part of the National Taskforce for COVID-19.
  • She is a Lecturer at the  Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics, University of Nairobi
  • She was awarded the Kamala Memorial Prize, University of Nairobi for 2000/2001 for being the best final year student in the Faculty of Medicine.

We truly look forward to having an informative, fun and interactive session whereby we will learn more about comorbidity and its impact on COVID-19 patients. You simply cannot afford to miss this session!!
